Assessments typically include questionnaires about your experiences and mental health. They can also include interview-style assessments.

Please note that our clinic combines assessments for both ADHD and Autism, as we believe it's essential to evaluate both conditions, even if you're only seeking assessment for one. However, if you already have a diagnosis of either Autism or ADHD and wish to be assessed for the other condition, we can focus on that specific assessment.

An intake session is a key part of the assessment process where your assessor will gather important information to help inform the assessment and the report. This includes details about your medical background, psychological history, family history, and personal and social experiences, spanning from childhood to adulthood.

In some cases, the assessor may also request input from people who know you well, such as parents, partners, or close family members, to gain additional insights, especially from your childhood years. If you do not feel comfortable with this, that is okay and will not impact your assessment.

After the intake session, your assessor will guide you on the next steps and recommend the appropriate type of assessment to address your specific concerns.

The comprehensive report will provide a diagnostic opinion of what the information and assessment has shown. These reports also include personalised recommendations for further management, intervention strategies, and next steps. This may also include recommendations for follow up testing, or other specialist opinions.

The report is typically completed within 3-6 weeks from the date of testing. However, turnaround times may vary depending on the time of year. Full payment is required before the report can be released. If you need extra time to finalise payment, please reach out to discuss your options.

All sessions and report writing hours are quoted on the hourly rate of $230 per hour. As a guide, you can expect to pay between $1500 and $2100+ for an assessment. Fees will be outlined to you following your intake session depending on the required sessions to suit your needs.

NDIS funding typically does not cover assessments, though there are some cases where it might. If you're unsure, we recommend speaking with your NDIS support coordinator or local area coordinator for clarification.

Medicare rebates are available for individuals under 25 years old if they have a referral from a paediatrician or psychiatrist for a ‘complex neurodevelopmental assessment.’ The rebate is approximately $380.

Standard GP referrals and mental health care plans do not qualify for Medicare rebates for assessments.

Some private health funds may offer a rebate, but this is uncommon. If your health fund does cover assessments, they may ask for an item code, which I do not provide.

If your assessment results do not indicate a diagnosis of ADHD or Autism, your report will still provide valuable insights into your strengths, challenges, and any support strategies that may be beneficial.

A lack of diagnosis does not mean your experiences aren’t valid, and I can guide you toward other support options if needed.

If you are considering ADHD medication, you will need to enquire with a psychiatrist or GP. Psychiatrists and GPs (in QLD) are the only professionals who can prescribe ADHD medication, and they will need to conduct their own assessment before prescribing.

Important: Some psychiatrists may not accept external reports, so it’s best to check their requirements before booking an assessment.
